Founder & Principal Attorney
Herman Morris, Jr., an attorney in Memphis, Tennessee, has nearly 40 years of legal experience across a wide range of legal specialties. He has twice been recognized by Woodward/White, Inc. as one of "The Best Lawyers in America" in the area of Energy Law. His leadership has excelled and been proven during his tenures as former president, chief executive officer, and prior to that general counsel, for Memphis Light, Gas, and Water, the city's public utility company, as well as his time as vice president & general counsel for Pinnacle Airlines. Most recently, Morris served as City Attorney for the City of Memphis, where he represented and defended all law suits brought by or against the city, collected taxes, supervised the review and adjustment claims by or against the city, drafted and reviewed contracts, provided legal advice and counsel to city officials. He has testified before the United States Congress on several occasions, representing the interests of several national and regional utility organizations.
Beyond his solid legal career, Morris has a long history of civic and community leadership and involvement. He has served in such engaged capacities as: chairman of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, president of the Memphis Branch NAACP, general campaign chairman of the United Way of the Mid-South fundraising campaign; chairman of the Greater Memphis Community Foundation; chairman of the National Civil Rights Museum Freedom Award and numerous others.
